Robert (Bob) Spindell, Jr.

Bob Spindell is a long-time Republican activist and businessperson in Wisconsin. He has been a member of the Wisconsin Elections Commission since 2019, and in 2020 he was one of the fake electors who purported to cast ballots for Donald Trump in the electoral college. In 2022, he publicly celebrated lower voter turnout in Milwaukee’s Black and Hispanic communities.

Spindell was one of the fake electors in 2020. When Law Forward represented Paul Sickel of the SEIU in filing a complaint against the fake electors with the Wisconsin Elections Commission, Spindell refused to recuse himself and participated in the Commission’s deliberations and decision not to investigate the wrongdoing. A Wisconsin circuit court has since ruled that Spindell’s participation was a violation of Sickel’s constitutionally guaranteed right to due process. Spindell also withheld records responsive to Sickel’s open records request related to the Commission’s consideration of his complaint until expressly ordered by a Court to produce them.

Spindell continues to serve on the Wisconsin Elections Commission, despite calls from voting rights activists for his resignation. In this role, he is one of six commissioners who oversee election administration across the state of Wisconsin.
