Boris Epshteyn

Boris Epshteyn was a “Strategic Advisor” to the Trump campaign in both 2016 and 2020 and remains closely involved with Trump’s various ongoing legal cases. He is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and a member of the New York Bar.

In his role as a Trump campaign lawyer, Epshteyn played a leading role in approving the fake elector scheme and expanding it beyond Wisconsin. When Troupis wanted to bring his and Chesebro’s idea to the Trump campaign’s attention, he contacted Epshteyn. Epshteyn in turn looped Rudy Giuliani into the plan, and helped coordinate between state and national actors throughout the execution of the scheme.

As of April 2024, Epshteyn describes himself as “in-house counsel” for former President Trump, and has made public appearances in the New York civil and criminal trials against Trump. On April 24, prosecutors in Arizona brought criminal charges against Epshteyn, Trump, and others from the campaign, related to their participation in the fake elector scheme in that state. On March 7, 2022, the 65 Project filed an attorney ethics complaint against Epshteyn in New York.
