John Eastman is a lawyer, academic, and former political candidate. He wrote memos and emails advocating the fake-elector scheme and other extreme, unlawful efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and keep Donald Trump in office. In those efforts, Eastman worked closely with Jim Troupis, Ken Chesebro, and Rudy Giuliani, among others. As a result of his work to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, Eastman was indicted in Georgia and, after an extensive trial, was recommended for disbarment in California.

Bill Feehan joined the other nine fake electors in meeting on December 14, 2020, and purported to cast electoral ballots for Donald Trump even though he had by then definitively lost the election. All ten electors were named as defendants in Penebaker v. Hitt. As part of their settlement with the plaintiffs, which was finalized December 1, 2023, they all officially repudiated their role in the fake-elector scheme, filed paperwork withdrawing their fake electoral ballots, and agreed never to serve as an elector in an election with Donald Trump on the ballot, nor to engage again in a fake-elector scheme. They also agreed to participate in any ongoing civil or criminal prosecutions of others involved in the fake-elector scheme.

In 2024, he lost his bid for a seat on the La Crosse County Board. He hosts a weekly conservative talk radio show called “Fact Check with Bill Feehan.”

Rudy Giuliani acted as Trump’s personal lawyer in the leadup to and aftermath of the 2020 election. Troupis and Chesebro, architects of the fake elector scheme, brought the scheme to Giuliani and viewed him as their conduit to Trump. Giuliani personally authorized Troupis and Chesebro and their co-counsel to file a Petition for Writ of Certiorari before the U.S. Supreme Court, seeking review of the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision affirming Biden’s victory.

In August 2023, Giuliani was indicted alongside Trump on charges of criminal conspiracy to overturn Trump’s 2020 loss in Georgia. Giuliani has never admitted that Biden won the 2020 election…

Edward Scott Grabins joined the other nine fake electors in meeting on December 14, 2020, and purported to cast electoral ballots for Donald Trump even though he had by then definitively lost the election. Bob Spindell has been a member of the Wisconsin Elections Commission since 2019, and in 2020 he was one of the fake electors who purported to cast ballots for Donald Trump in the electoral college. In 2022, he publicly celebrated lower voter turnout in Milwaukee’s Black and Hispanic communities.

When Law Forward represented Paul Sickel of the SEIU in filing a complaint against the fake electors with the Wisconsin Elections Commission, Spindell refused to recuse himself and participated in the Commission’s deliberations and decision not to investigate the wrongdoing.

Spindell continues to serve on the Wisconsin Elections Commission. In this role, he is one of six commissioners who oversee election administration across the state of Wisconsin.

Charles (Chaz) Nichols is a lawyer, campaign consultant, and Republican operative in Wisconsin. Nichols worked closely with the Republican Party of Wisconsin in the planning and execution of the fake-electors scheme. Notably, Nichols was the figure who Mark Jefferson’s tasked with researching and producing the first draft of the paperwork used by Wisconsin’s fake electors. Nichols provided that paperwork to Mark Jefferson, Joe Olson and Ken Chesebro, the latter of whom used it as a model in creating similar paperwork for the six other states where the scheme was executed …

Jim Troupis is a Wisconsin attorney, former circuit court judge, and one of the primary architects and proponents of the 2020 fake elector scheme in Wisconsin and nationally. 

As of April 2024, Troupis is an active member in good standing of the Wisconsin State Bar who maintains a practice in Cross Plains. He served on the Judicial Conduct Advisory Committee, a group that advises sitting judges about ethics (he was temporarily suspended from that position by the Wisconsin Supreme Court on 6/11/24). He has never publicly repudiated his role in the fake elector scheme or acknowledged that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. As part of his settlement with the Penebaker plaintiffs, he agreed never to again assist in a scheme to submit fake electoral votes.

On 6/4/24, Wisconsin Attorney General Kaul charged Troupis with forgery, a felony.

Kenneth (Ken) Chesebro is an attorney originally from Wisconsin Rapids and is one of the primary architects and proponents of the fake elector scheme in Wisconsin and nationally… In October 2023, Chesebro pleaded guilty before a Georgia state court to one felony charge of conspiracy to commit filing false documents in connection with the fake elector scheme in that state.

Chesebro hatched the fake elector scheme … He wrote several quasi-legal memos to Wisconsin and national players detailing the scheme, he drafted paperwork for use in the participating states, he helped coordinate the execution of the plan in each of the states, and he attended the fake electors’ meeting in Wisconsin … on January 6 he went to Washington, D.C. to try to deliver the ballots to Mike Pence and attended the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

As part of his settlement with the Penebaker plaintiffs, he agreed never to assist in a scheme to submit fake electoral votes.

Boris Epshteyn was a “Strategic Advisor” to the Trump campaign in both 2016 and 2020 and remains closely involved with Trump’s various ongoing legal cases.

In his role as a Trump campaign lawyer, Epshteyn played a leading role in approving the fake elector scheme and expanding it beyond Wisconsin. When Troupis wanted to bring his and Chesebro’s idea to the Trump campaign’s attention, he contacted Epshteyn. Epshteyn in turn looped Rudy Giuliani into the plan, and helped coordinate between state and national actors throughout the execution of the scheme.

As of April 2024, Epshteyn describes himself as “in-house counsel” for former President Trump, and has made public appearances in the New York civil and criminal trials against Trump…

Ron Johnson is Wisconsin’s senior United States Senator. He was involved in the attempt to transmit fake electoral ballots to then-Vice President Mike Pence on January 6, 2021, and was also in touch with the architects of the scheme in the preceding weeks.

Mike Roman is a political operative who served as director of “Election Day Operations” for the Trump campaign in 2020, overseeing poll-watching operations, and held a similar role during the 2016 campaign.
