Since our original analysis of these bills, two have been enacted into law and a third is headed to the Governor’s desk.

The Wisconsin Legislature is currently considering or advancing over twenty proposals to change the way elections and voting are administered in our state. We’ve analyzed these bills and the impact they would have if passed into law. While some make only technical changes, many others restrict absentee voting, create unnecessary barriers for voters, and create new criminal penalties. Our analysis shows Wisconsin is part of a larger national trend, with state legislatures moving to limit access to the polls and politicizing election administration.
