In March of 2023, Law Forward filed an omnibus grievance with the Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) against former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman regarding his conduct after the 2020 election in Wisconsin. Our grievance (and its extensive companion appendix) showed that Gableman acted lawlessly with complete indifference to Wisconsin election law, procedural norms, and ethical obligations. He broke more rules than he followed.
Our grievance prompted an investigation by OLR. At the conclusion of the investigation, OLR decided this grievance merited a formal complaint to the Wisconsin Supreme Court seeking discipline against Gableman.
On April 7, 2025 OLR reached a stipulation with Gableman. Gableman stipulates that he misled courts, lied in public meetings, and violated government transparency laws.
On October 13, 2025 Law Forward filed a motion urging the Wisconsin Supreme Court to accept a brief arguing that a three-year suspension of Michael Gableman’s law license is inadequate and fails to reflect the severity of his misconduct.
