Mike Roman
Mike Roman is a political operative who served as director of “Election Day Operations” for the Trump campaign in 2020, overseeing poll-watching operations, and held a similar role during the 2016 campaign. He previously worked for the Trump White House as an opposition researcher in 2017–2018, and before that, as an investigator for the right-wing Koch brothers’ political operations.
Roman has a long history of making unsubstantiated, yet serious, allegations of voter fraud. In 2020, he was looped into the fake elector scheme early, and helped implement its execution on December 14. Roman personally vetoed the idea of including qualifying language on the fake ballots for all six states, to clarify they should be counted only if a court overturned the elections results (such language ultimately appeared only in the documents from Pennsylvania and New Mexico). Roman also helped coordinate the attempted delivery of fake electoral votes to Vice President Mike Pence on January 6, 2021.
As of April 2024, Roman is facing criminal charges in both Georgia and Michigan related to the fake elector scheme. On 6/4/24, Wisconsin Attorney General Kaul charged Roman with forgery, a felony.
